Default new Servo

Hi all

I'm currently running a sanwa exzes 40 mhz radio. I was running a ko fet 2015 servo and guess what, its blown. I would like a new servo similar in spec to that, but not sure if the new digital ones will run of my receiver.
I read on here about bec what ever that is.
my esc is a gm v12 running a gm 13.5 triple motor in losi xxx.
I know its old school i have been out of racing for a while and im getting back into it.

another question, are stick lipos the same size as saddle lipos.
Im thinking of upgrading slowly to the brushless setup, and ive always run saddle packs just incase i decide to change cars, i dont need to buy new batteries. with the old ni-mh they were the same size in saddle pack as stick pack.

thanks

I run an alturn aas750mg which is pretty torquey and can easily keep up with a savox. But, its £18 not £60! Saddles, when put end to end are the same as sticks. A bit taller maybe, but not a problem. BEC is battery elimination circuit, you can read in depth if you google it. BTW lipos are not as dangerous as some say, nimh is worse

Thanks for the reply. Where do you get the alturn servo from? Willl a GM v12 be ok with running lipos. I may be going the brushless route sooner than i think as i cant find anyone who will skim a motor.

If you want to stick brushed then there are plenty of lathes going cheap, but I would recommend going brushless as the comm on a brushed motor burns quicker with lipo (they hold their voltage better than nimh during runtime)

Also you need to be careful not to over-discharge the lipos as the speedo doesn't have a low voltage cutoff (if the lipos go below 6V then they are scrap) so you need to fit this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Novak-Smar...item4850a52ab7

The BEC on the GM will be fine, it's the newer speedos that have issues as they use a slightly different way of regulating the voltage that doesn't always cope well with big surges that some servos draw.

you can get the alturn from modelsport uk, or any other model shop. RRCI magazine use them and they are widely praised. Perfect for off road.
