Just rebuilding the diff on my car well refitting really. I'm using new gears and rear bulkhead, I've shimmed the main gear over to the pinion and shimmed the pinion up to the main gear, there not tight and it all moves nicely. The question is, do I need any play between the pinion and main gear, there isn't any at the moment, I just don want it to be too tight. Also do you put a lite coat of grease between the two.
Cheers Ross ![]()

I don't run any gap but remember that it could all be sitting different in the gearbox cover so check that too!
Also that bearing casing on the bevel gear looks worn and its a massive no go if there is play in that shaft. Put the gearbox casings together with the front screws in place and make sure there is no up and down movement. That shaft is alloy and does ware Hope it helps ps - no grease in mine between the gears

Cool thank Tony. I forgot to say that the shaft is new as well. Basically the gears stripped the other night when racing and I've replaced everything that I thought may have caused movement. Ill check it all when its back together. Thanks Rodd
