Default Charging transmitter via Orion Touch

As per thread title, is this possible?

I've had an Esprit III for a while and none of my past chargers have worked for charging in including my Pulsar 3, it use to just give an error message.

There is only 2 chargers i can get to charge my transmitter. One is an old ripmax thing limited to 3a, the other is my trickle charger than plugs into the wall but it takes forever.

Is there any way to set my Orion Touch to charge this? I've probably got this wrong but it's powered by 8 x AA 2100mah. I tried setting the charger to NiMH, 8 cells, 2100mah capacity and it charged for about 30 seconds then said it was complete, which it obviously isn't.

Any advice? How does everyone else charge their transmitters?

The Only way I know in he radio is to use the trickle charger, else take the batteries out and charge separate.

You can make this

Or why not cut the wires on the trickle charger and plug them into your charger.

If your using AA batteries make sure they are low leakage type, saves the time inbetween charges, if not they will discharge all week when not in use.

Alternatively, if your Tx can take it, look at 3s lipo, usually around 2300mAH but last for ages.

Regarding leads, I use a charging harness, plugs into your charger, and has multiple connections on it, Tx input (both +ve inner and -ve inner), also has deans connector on it so handy if you do oval/cell racing. Saddle pack Cells for off road normally come with an adapter cable for charging, chop off the tamiya connector and stick a Deans on, then you can use the charging harness for everything. Same as what you will have now, just a tidy solution pre-made.

Should definitely be possible, I used to do this until I went to LiPo which is more of a problem because there is usually a diode in between the jack and the battery.

What current have you been setting? AAs wouldn't normally be charged anything like as high as our sub-C cells. I would say 0.8-1A max, should still be faster than a wall charger, but will obviously still take a little while.

If you're charging faster than that then the charger may be being thrown by the high internal resistance of the AAs hence the early finish.

I charge mine at 0.05A, works fine and a lot quicker than a wall charger.

Just be careful with charging on fast charger.
The circuitry in charger is not designed to be used with fast charging rate.
my trickle charger is set 0.5amps which I is most I would use.

I take mine out to charge them, the limiting factor is the KO internals ... be warned, I've seen plenty of wrecked ones!

Appreciate the warning, i will be careful with them due to this, probably just charge them at 0.5a, it's a lot better than charging them at the 0.08a my trickle charger goes at.
