Just bought a 6.5 combo motor / speedo to go in my XB4.
Got it all in and working - updated box and speedy with latest firmware. I've put the stock firmware on so I can play with the 'Hybrid Boost' settings. Question is. What the hell does it all mean ? What's a good starting point - to just get boost on the straights ? Cheers Andy |

Cheers for the setup link.
Thing is - most of the 4wd / 2wd setups are using Mod1 or Mod2 firmware - not the newer firmware that allows you to use the 'Stock' settings that enables the 'Hybrid Boost' settings. There is a setup from 2011 for Tom C, - but as I would have guessed - he's got everything on maximum settings and it's a different speedo / settings to Reventon Pro. |

Mod2 is the newest software and is designed for Off Road Use
The Stock software with Hybrid Boost is meant for On Road use The SP Tech Guys on RCTech have basically said that although you can you the Stock Hybrid Software the boost/turbo settings are more suited to On Road

Ahhh. Ok - thanks for the info - I will try the Mod2 firmware 1st then ![]() Is there any way with Mod2 to get the 'boost / extra timing' only on the straights? My Orion R10's have separate settings for 'boost' (timing all the time) and 'turbo' which only comes in after a time period on full throttle. It looks like the only way to get this on the SP speedo is with the 'stock' firmware? |

Tried speedo / car with Mod2 firmware on Sunday.
It was ok - but cars running 'boost' had me on the straight. Will try the stock firmware so I can try the Hybrid Boost. Anyone had much success with it on these speedos ? |

Hi
Similar except I had DMTS at a max of 15 as my understanding is that this is timing applied throughout the rev range and I wanted low speed drivability. I had DRRS set at level 4 - again I didn't want too much punch. It looks like in the setup sheets I have seen, people run the max 26.5 degrees ? |

Ok - I have run the speedo 3 time with the Mod2 Firmware.
It's good - but I really want to try the 'Hybrid Boost' as I need more speed on the straights and with Mod2 I ended up with the timing at the Max 26.5 degrees and the punch level (DRRS) down at 3. This seems the norm with the setup's i've seen. My understanding of this with Mod2 is that the motor is Maxed out re timing (all the time - not just at full throttle) and a low setting for DRRS makes it drivable ! So - I want more top end.... I have installed Firmware Stock1 - I have read on other forums - from Speed Passion people that the name Stock is misleading (it's named like this as it follows suit with other manufacturers) What Stock1 Firmware is - is the most adjustable / adaptable firmware that allows the most adjustment. The Hybrid Boost is referred to as the 'Formula 1' of settings by a Speed Passion Guy on the RC Tech Forums. He says it is the one to use if you want total flexibility and maximum control etc. So I have read / downloaded the Hybrid Boost PDF on the SP Website, but... When you install the firmware it lists each motor wind and lists a MAXIMUM setting for each wind. I have a 6.5 and it says: 50% Maximum Value (Range goes from 30% to 100%) 130K Actual Maximum Value (Range goes from 110K to 150K) In the manual the 50% refers to the 'Hybrid Boost Active' value. What is this in english - why 50% ? In the pdf manual - the example settings for a 4.5 touring car are set to 90% ???? Also - what does 130k really mean, we can go from 110k to 150k - what are these values. What is the max revs of say a 6.5 motor with no timing applied ? Please help before I run this ![]() Ta. Andy |

I just want serious speed down the straight ![]() Although it may be easier to put a 5.5 in it and run the punch even lower and stick to Mod2 firmware..... I know Andy Roch had his car running like a missile on the straights with the 'turbo' on his hpi whilst keeping it drivable elsewhere - that's what I'm after. |

![]() Saw Bally had the LRP X20's for good price ! I'm resisting though! Think Martin is right - run the slower motor and play with the settings ![]() Sure I'll get to understand it - unless it goes up in flames first! |

Update for anyone with similar problems / wanting to know about the Stock Setup.
I ran Stock1 Firmware. Initially I used 'middle' setting for pretty much everything, so power / revs / etc were the middle settings of what's available. DRRS -3 / Boost 50% / Boost Max 130k / boost start 6000rpm / delay 0.5 Car was too fast - turbo kicked in on the straight as i'd expected, but was too much and I was in danger of wiping the car out with the wall at the end of the straight.... Next run, I turned Hybrid Boost to - off. Car was ok - but as you'd expect with no timing etc, it wasn't fast. Next run - lowest settings on most things : DRRS - 3 / Boost 30% / Boost Max 115k / boost start 5000rpm / delay 0.5 Car was great - lots more speed everywhere (as my understanding is that the boost adds timing throughout the rev range - it certainly felt like it did) Car was great on the straight - kept accelerating So - all good, this is where i'll start from now on. For bigger tracks, just up the Max Boost RPM and the Boost Max %. So - IMO - Ditch Mod2 firmware, as it's not as tuneable and run Stock1. Nothing blew up - it did run a bit hot with the initial higher settings, but all good. Hope this helps other people struggling with it all too ![]() |
