Default Few quick Q's

So I came by last week and was very interested in coming and joining the club

I'm looking to drop by Apex tomorrow to pick up a buggy, I realise most people are on 2wd but I really like the look of 4wd, specifically the b44.2 although the kyosho fs2 sp seems nice (and I remember looking at catalogs for ages as a kid a the kyosho buggies) parts seem a little sketchy?

So presuming I go with a b44, i've got a few quick q's:

What are some esc / motor recommendations? I'm leaning towards a Tekin RS Pro and Tekin redline 6.5t?

What is the actual rules for the club on motors for 4wd class (I gather Thursdays a free but a Sunday will be controlled?)

What are some tyre recommendations for the astro?

I've seen some people saying the ball links on the b44.2 are a bit fragile does anyone have experience with this? Are the rpms a good substitute?

I was planning on getting a hybrid transponder from http://www.bbksoftware.com/ seems the only place in in the uk?

Should I be thinking about anything else? I have radio gear and chargers, I'll get at least 1 BRCA approved lipo saddle pack and probably a couple of Turnigy nano tech's for practice.

To start with I likely only make the Thursday meets unless I'm away with work, if i can do a respectable job then I'll try and make the odd Sunday.

Hi George,
Be good to have you along... There are quite a few b44's that either come or have come along in the past (Dudders used to run one before he sold it), so I'm sure others will come along with advice on the ballcups being an issue or not...

But if ya fancy a 4wd, then go with one! There are usually at least 1 or 2 that also come along.. If there are not enough to run in a separate heat we lump 'em in with the 2wd's. It usually works out ok on the thursday club nights which are easy going...

We have no motor limits for any meet, its more to do with what you can cope with. However, saying that a 6.5 in a 4wd isn't as much of a handful as it can be in a 2wd! And you can always turn the speedo down for the first few sessions...

Tyres are generally, in the dry shumacher minipins, in the wet ballistic green mini spikes or Dboots multibite b compounds work well...

Hope that helps!

I ran 6.5 in mine and t was just right.

No rules, open.

What are some tyre recommendations for the astro?

Schumacher yellow mini spikes or pins for dry, DBoots B for wet. Both from apex.

I've seen some people saying the ball links on the b44.2 are a bit fragile does anyone have experience with this? Are the rpms a good substitute?

RPM's are better on most cars, not essential to start though.

Perfect.

Yes, would always recommend brca approved as they show they've been tested etc etc.

To start with I likely only make the Thursday meets unless I'm away with work, if i can do a respectable job then I'll try and make the odd Sunday.

Look forward to it!

Hi,

I run the b44.1 and can't fault it. I would say the only spares you need are front wishbones and front shock towers. If you want to ask any questions/ have a look at the car/ setups, come find me. I run a RB6 and will have my b44.1 with me.
