Default Automotive Engineering in and around London?

I'm looking at pursuing automotive engineering as a career, and I'd ideally like to have a couple of weeks work experience under my belt before applying for Uni courses next year. I know you guys are pretty in to your 1:1 cars, and some of you seem to contain a vast amount of knowledge, so I was hoping someone, somewhere, could help me out?

So if any of you know of any automotive engineeringy type places in central london, it would be of great help to me. Any vehicle design studios would be equally awesome.

PS> I've already looked at Gaydon (Aston Martin), Prodrive, and Mclaren in Woking, but unfortunately all are too far for me to commute

Thanks,
Michael

Ford's Dunton Technical Centre, Basildon (about 30 mins from Stratford by train but hard to get to without a car).

Ford's Diesel design site in Dagenham.

Nissan's Cranfield site near Milton Keynes is much closer to London than Gaydon.

Also Caterham in Kent (?)
