Sooooo, my mrs decided it was a good idea to ride my £500 bike into work, which is our town, then leave it in some crappy bike store, of corse some pikey then came along and promptly stole it. Went to police to be told it's not worth their time and the security staff wont review the film without police notification. Do i have any kind of recourse on this? Im not covered on my home insurance, hopefully my rents are though.

if the bike store has a sign up stating you leave your possessions at your own risk, then the only recourse is the Police, and chances are, they won't do cock all to recover your bike unless they stumble upon it.

Was a lock used, and does that have a garauntee and allow youto claim?

Yeah a lock was used but i wouldn't of used it in a town for an entire day. Im just kind of dissapointed with the police attitude over the whole thing. We're encouriged to ride to work then when something happens they don't care. Im sure the thieves must steal bikes from there constantly, knowing nothing will come of it.
I don't know if there is any sign there, ive never see it, think ill just write into the paper.

that is so true. my mate had his £200 bike stolen from outside the local icelands and the sercuity guard in icelands didnt do sod all to stop them. it a goverment consipersy (is that how you spell it as i dont know how to) aginst us. they try to get us to cycle from place to place but when our bikes or parts of our bikes get nicked they wont sod all to help us find them. so we end up forking out more money to get a new bike which we have to pay tax on. and were does the tax go. to the goverment who spend it on holidays and stuff like that. that makes me so mad. and they have the check to tell me i cant ride on the pavment even thourgh i only rolled up onto the pavment to put my chain back on as it had come off.and the coppers saw the whole thing and they still moaned. so why dont spend less time telling people stupid things and get to finding more peoples stolen bikes!!!!!!!!!!
