Looks interesting as I own an X-6 but I have a suspect that this may be an Atomic Carbon S2.

It has the X-6 tranny, but thats where the it ends.. costum chassis and B4 reararms. I think it from one of the Japanese Tamiya drivers. Untill the TRF 2wd is ready they can run pretty much whatever they want.

definatly not an S2 !

that looks like a homemade car - the rear tower, gearbox ( 4 speed ? ) and motor disc are from the latest X-6 upgrades

the rest looks home made like the main chassis, obviuosly the front end is the AE B4..

looks neat though that, very tidy job who ever has done that

it has AE and Hot Bodies stickers on it - either the guy also has Tamiya stickers on and doesn't know where his loyalties lay, or it's just a bit of a home made hack job to create a cool hybrid, which is my guess?

Either way, it's a nice looking conversion and I like the narrow layout.

Ok may bad, I thought it looked a lot like the paintjob of one the Japanese TRF drivers, who were using X-6 cars at the worlds....

Here is the translation. As translated by http://tets9.freetranslation.com/

Mr./ Ms. Furuya enters it by a/the custom car this time also. A/the base be X-6. Even the movement was ultra ミッド.

So it is a moded B4 to an X6 to an Furuya special. Nice work in any language.

I am wondering how much flex in the chassis there is.

It appears to be a tub chassis like the S2 but a closer look and it isn't. Just a velcro strap between two rods. There are two layers of carbon on the base but it's still flat - I wonder what the flex would be like on it?

I am 90% sure that it is not a tub. What I see in the photo is a 'sandwich' chassis. This is very common when working with any composit materal. There are 2 layers of materal, in this case carbon fiber, seperated by a filler, here a foam I am sure. In aerospace, where I work, we use differentmaterals from poltstirene to a honeycomb to a lattace frame. What happens is that when you seperate the layers of materal you vastley increase their torsional ridigity. This process was auctualy pioneered by my father in the 40's and 50's.

Here is a carbon pannel with a aluminum honeycomb core..

My money is that this is what he is useing..

This is a foam core. Looking at the sides of the model I see no honeycomb structure. It looks solid. I have used foam core carbon pannels extensively and I am fairly sure that this is what he has used. I would.

This would produce a chassis as stiff as iron but a a huge weight savings.

I think it's double layer (triple inc top deck) with alloy standoffs between but you can't see the bottom layer as the undertray covers the side

Thats what i thought at first but if you look closely at the front where the velcro ends it does seem to have some sort of foam in it. It sounds way to complicated for this use and ali posts are popular for this sort of thing but i have to admit it does look like he's using a foams sandwiched carbon sheet.
