See this thread - post 18 explains what is going on.

Simply, your name and details have been given by someone as a guarantor for a Wonga loan, and since they haven't repaid it Wonga are coming after you for the money. The details needed are scant, and I'm told that they can get enough off Facebook/my space/etc. pages to phish around and find an account number. That's all they need to borrow the money from Wonga, who don't check with the guarantor, and then not repay it.

I've written to my MP and she has taken it up with the Treasury and the FSA. An MP called Stella Creasey is also making big waves on this and you can e-mail her by looking her up on the House of Commons website. Wonga are not breaking any Law, so the Law has to be changed. Write to your MP and to Stella as a first step.

You don't have to go to the Wonga site for this to happen. You just have to be telling the world about yourself on social media and using a PC powered by MS - I made the last bit up! HTH

To be fare Wonga need the money to sponsor Newcastle United next season.

I'm a Newcastle fan, wouldn't want an overpriced shirt with Wonga on the front though.

I would blame the stupid banks who are ok with any tom dick or wonga asking them for money from peoples accounts and just giving it to them with no security checks.
