Default HELP Please

Im running a Durango 410
speed passion LPF speedo
speed passion 6.5 V3
87 spur
23 pinion
zero timming
forward only
DRRS start mode 9
brake mode 1
Ive always had a problem with the battery wires getting warm more the negative terminal side.
Today while doing a practise session i melted 2 sets of batterys,1 set of orion 5500 90c and 1 set of nano-tech 5100 65c.
the orions almost doubled in size just saving from exploding and the nano-tech melted the negative terminal out of the battery.
all wires have been checked and nothing has shorted out,all wires have been heat shrinked at the soldered ends so nothing is exposed and cant short out anywhere.
Anyone got any ideas before i bin the electrics and start fresh

Cheers

Should add, he was getting similar motor and ESC temps to me in my 44.2 but my batteries were barely warm, also Turnigy Nano-Tech 5100's the same as one of the ones he had problems with.

Motor was running about 130, ESC 100 degrees.

A thought, if you cake the motor out does the driveline feel free when you turn the spur gear by hand? Do you know if there's really thick oil in the diffs?

Were you using the capacitor? I used too have the. Sp lpf in my 410 and space is. Very tight

Not sure using it or not would make a difference though

Also just a thought my 410 used a 7.5 v3 motor with my lpf and my batteries were always warm after a race. Maybe the 6.5 is pushing the esc too far causing it took really suck the batteries for all they are worth

Think the lpf is rated to 5.5t. But id take that as a bit of a over estimate as most with most esc it also depends on car type. Sometimes the esc say 5.5t for example but only onroad. And they say a higher turn for offroad use due too the extra strains placed on the motor/esc.

I am still using the capacitor as ive managed to tuck it in between the side plate and rx,
you could be right in saying 6.5 is a bit to much for the Lpf to handle off road and in a 4wd.

If you look at my burnt out Reventon R on the other thread... the worst affected but seems to have been the battery wires where they go into the ESC... so maybe the same thing ultimately?

That's we're I put my capacitor too. Not sure what effect not running one has

See if you can get a 7.5 or above motor to try out.

Other than that at a guess could be a fault in the esc somewhere In that case try contacting Schumacher as they are the distributor for speed passion in uk

The warranty has well ran out now so i dont think i can get them to have a look with-out having to pay.
Can a dodgy motor cause this problem?
both were bought at the same time and are about 12 months old.
ill try another motor but dont fancy blowing another set of batts untill the fault is found.

Ive just stripped out electrics and found no marks on the speedo, nothing and just looks like new apart from scratches from removing in the past.

Having ddrs at max could be contributory, try turning it right down. I usually run mine at either 2 or 3 and has plenty of acceleration.

Are the bullets in to the battery a tigt fit? New? Well used?
If they are slack and wobble it can cause arcing which can create heat and melt the battery case.
Threads about the Nano techs suffering on rctech as the battery case is thin around the terminal.
Bird cage style bullets cause it when they loose their grip/tension.

The bullet connectors were new fitted on Saturday but yes there the bird cage type but not loose as they are new and are a tight snug fit.
It was on the nano-tech where the plastic around the negative terminal melted away.
