Default Speedpassion 7.5T Motor timing + ESC Programming?

Hi All

Hoping someone can advise on brushless motor timing and programming of ESC? What does it all mean?

I have just acquired a Schumacher Cougar SV Pro which is fitted with a Speedpassion 7.5T brushless sensored motor and Speedpassion ESC. Will have a look tomorrow and provide specific model numbers if required.

Unsure as to what to do with the timing and more importantly at the moment, what setting to use when programming the timing on the ESC?

Looking on the end of the motor, I can see markings 0 deg and +10 deg, just under the +10 deg I can see a figure '0'.

Options on the program card range from 0 deg upwards with the higher settings also showing e.g. >=10.5T.

If the figure '0' is showing on end of motor, should I set ESC to 0 deg via program card?

Very new to the electric scene as have been doing 1/8 nitro for a couple of years.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Steve.

the markings on motor endbell is the timing of actual motor 0 is neutral zone
- retards = cooler temps tat longer run time as lower rpm
+ advances = higher temp but quickier at cost of shorter run time if set too extreme
The timing on esc is just for esc.
What size spur & pinion running?
Do you have LCD box?

Many thanks, that clarifies a few things and now makes more sense.

Spur is whatever came with the buggy kit "Schumacher Cougar SV Pro CF 2011 Spec". (I'll have a look and post on here)

Pinion: Currently fitted with 23T but also have 21T & 25T.
Would probably struggle to fit the 25T as currently using a Lipo Stick with the wires coming out of the end and with the 25T pinion moving the motor forwards, don't think that the stick pack would fit.

LCD Box? Do you mean the program box? If so, then yes I have an LCD display program box.

I'm running the same combo as you so thought I'd post my settings to give you a start point if you need it.
I'm no expert and haven't tried playing with motor timing but these seem to work:

Cheers Mate, very useful.

I'm currently running:

Motor: Speed Passion V3.0 Competition BL Motor 7.5T
ESC: Speed Passion LPF V2.0 ESC - Carbon look

The main one that I was concerned about was Mode 9 (ESC Timing), with the '0' showing on the motor itself, I wondered if the ESC also needed to be set to Setting 1 i.e. 0 deg? It is currently set at one of the higher settings and didn't know as to whether changing would perhaps affect (damage) the motor.

With a 7.5 in a 2wd buggy I'd turn all ESC timing/turbo/boost off, as you'll have more than enough power and don't need to worry about it. If you get those settings wrong you can fry a motor in no time at all.

I'd also set the motor timing to 10 (maximum) as the SP motors tend to be a bit dead on the lower endbell settings.
