Default What servo do you use? Tenth Off-Road

Looking to find out what the best, good value servo to use? I bought an Alturn 750MG for £18 and I think I'm regretting it...

Ace 1015
Ace 1313 are great servos
Most of the savöx ones you can't go wrong with and they are a great price
Futaba
Hitec

Servos aren't really something you should skimp on as it makes a noticable difference and get a good one and they can last for ages

Just took it apart to see if there was anything odd going on. The gears look lovely quality - all metal and nicely made. However a couple of the gears were rubbing against each other and one was laying flat on part of the plastic casing. Add to this that the whole lot was covered in a very sticky white grease. Very sticky!

So, I cleaned all the white goo off and shimmed the gears so nothing was rubbing and - WOW! Faster, centered well and even noisier than before! Worked though!

I'll still keep a lookout for a replacement. Perhaps a wanted ad would be an idea.

I buy second hand ones off here from people that I trust when they discribe a genuine reason for sale.
Savox mostly but all have worked well.
High speed for my buggy and high torque for my SC10 and crawler.

Why Mikey so far in both 10th and 8th never had an issue with Savox but have had more expensive ones that have only lasted 5mins?

Savox 1257 or 1258tg

I've had the 1257 since 2007 when they first came out it has never stripped a gear or ever gone wrong this servo is fantastic.

It even survived snapping the front off my dex210 last weekend with no servo saver

If I remember correctly I paid £35 for it as a cheap temporary replacement for a broken futaba I've still not sent it for repaire.

All my cars have Futaba BLS551 servos in, great servo for the money!

Wouldn't touch SAVOX with somebody elses poopy stick, personally don't think the 1251 has enough REAL torque to steer a 4wd buggy and seen LOTS have problems over the years.

I know people who haven't had problems with SAVOX so maybe the quality part-part is the issue.
