you can set the ezruns to instant reverse, but you lose the ability to brake effectively, as it brakes and slows down then suddenly reverses, reverse is instant from standstill or slow movement

I have a Hobbywing XERUN and it has the option for instant reverse. Not too expensive if you order from Hong Kong! Arrived in 5 days though...

Can I please ask a newbie question....?

What is instant reverse? It is just that on my std Mad Monkey it doesn't seem to like going into reverse - a bit hit and miss! Could I be doing something wrong? Thanks!

Most ESC's won't allow you just to bang it into reverse and have the cars wheels spinning backwards while the car is travelling forwards. Two reasons for this. Back stick whilst travelling forwards would normally be for braking and not reversing. That is why there's a delay, or often you actually have to reverse stick twice to engage reverse.

Also, the potential for serious damage to drivetrains and electronics would result from instant reverse.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jimmy.

It seems I might have a problem then, as when the car has stopped, it often takes many attempts to get reverse!

Youre probably doing what i have a habit of doing is not give the esc 2 seconds delay before trying to reverse. If you hit reverse to soon it resets the timer inside and you have to do it again. 2 seconds feels like ages sometimes.

Yup, one of my speedos has a programmable delay from (i think) 0,3 sec up to about 2. You still have to come to a complete halt first. So not "instant", but you still have the complete function of the brakes
