if its unclaimed it usually means they have given or used the wrong email address that isn't link to the account,

I mis-smelled (sorry, spelled) mine once and the buyer contacted me to say the payment was unclaimed. I'd already sold over a thousand items!!
Either that or they haven't set up their paypal account correctly yet.

I misspelled an email address for a PayPal payment once and it showed as unclaimed.
PayPal would not allow me to cancel it.
My only course of action was to wait 30 days at which time the funds revert to your account. (Which is what happened to me)
If the payment is claimed by the wrong person you can resort to the usual procedure to get your money back.
In the meantime I had to pay again for my item.
Since then I always copy and paste the email address into PayPal.

i think when its unclaimed you can withdraw it back to your account its happened to me before (as the seller) typed my email wrong when listing off my iphone.. i had to ask the buyer to withdraw it.

I've had people pay me and had to 'accept' the payment. Until I accept, it is 'unclaimed'.
