Default Anyone here interested in re-re?

Anyone here into re-releases? Or are you guys all strictly vintage purists? I'm in the process of restoring my RC10CE graphite but with fairly newer parts (mine came with the white nylon originally, but the parts I got are black nylons).

I also have a Buggy Champ that I'm working on, but I don't think I have time for it, it has competition chassis, MIP/Thorp ball diffs, front kick plate/guard, Tamiya Frog tires (mounted on BC's wheels).

I'm personally into Re-re kits, it's like a second chance at childhood!

Re release are, as you say a second chance at childhood, I think though that the majority of vintage collectors/restorers want original, I guess it depends on budget too.
Some vintage stuff has obviously not, as yet been or going to be re released, rc10 gold pans, Schumacher cats etc, so I think the re release kits are just Tamiya. Personally, I think it's a better acheivement to restore an original, but each to there own ;-)

I have a rere Avante, and very glad i do, its beautful. My reasons were i wanted to build one from the box, but not wanting to pay vintage NIB prices, it was a no brainer.
In the case of the 2011 Avante anyhoo, its a better car today with the design tweaks Tamiya incorporated.

Proper re-re's I like (Boomerang, Avante, etc) the one I really dislike is the Holiday Buggy - it's just a shell plonked on a modern chassis - not a re-re IMO!!

Default Hi

Some of the re-res I have are probably now classed as vintage e.g. Top Force and Dyna Storm!

Though I agree with having an original even if it needs a restoration. Far more satisfying to build up!

I just bought myself a Buggychamp BNIB. I'm going to build it as the Rough Rider was my very first kit.
