Default new toy

been after a digi slr for a while and upon stumbling into jessops newbury on bank hol monday I found an ex display d40 for £250 with full nikon 12 month waranty £50 off list and I got a polarising filter 1/2 price as well.

all in £298 for camera + 18-55 lends, 2gb fast memory card and a polarising filter.

having fun with the apature and exposure time settings using a 30s exposure time in a completley dark room then waving a lazer pen about gets some cool pics

I've seen a couple cheaper on flebay but looking at repair costs and non uk waranty issues I spent the extra £

real easy to use and I may be able to use some of my dads old nikon lends's

I'm gonna have a go at some outdoor pics at swindon on sunday and probably cml next wed.

I'll probably get the wench to get me a reasonable telephoto lends for xmas

one question though how do I get starfield pics and does the polariser filter affect the light in low light situations?

I may do the lazer pen thing tonite on my newly rebuilt zx5 and pop the results up here whats the best pic hosting site prefrably free.

Sounds good Giles, if you mean stars from each point of light in a picture then its another filter, tho expect you can do it in software....

Personaly I like Picasa, the google picture thingy, from the google page you need to goto "more" at the top of the page, then "even more" and download and install picasa, it will index all pictures on the puter (pc) and has links to the upload to web page. I allow picasa to do everything, upload from camera, index and handy for quick croping and adjustments, the i'me feeling lucky button works most times for me.

usless courier company wont deliver it until monday and I cant even colect it from their depot in reading today because its against their policy

so I'm stuck with the 18-55 shooting raw and cropping as I did with the top pic in my prev post.

I'm running lipo so I'll be doing the club races rather than the reioganals.

hopefully I'll get some good pics
