Smile Durango 210 buggy

Hi, first post on here but I have been racing RC cars for over 20 years, mainly nitro on road.

Looking for a durango 2wd buggy, ideally if someone has complete set up with motor, speed control etc that would be great.

Please post/pm with details of what you have.

Thanks
Iain

Then isn't the new RTR DEX210 something for you?

Maybe, how does the spec of the rtr buggy compare to the non rtr versions?

I think the biggest difference is that the RTR has a moulded +8mm chassis, whilst the non-RTR has an aluminium plate+moulded sidepod chassis 8mm shorter than the new chassis tub. I think the +8mm chassis (and moulded tub) may (also) be featured on later version/2013 spec DEX210 (non-RTR).

Besides that, it doesn't have the two extra gears, one axle, two shims and two bearings included for the mid-motor conversion.

Also, the car has a gear diff, whereas the non-RTR has a ball diff.

From what I know, those are all the differences on the chassis really, which isn't too bad for an RTR - it seems to me they haven't cut back on the costs (and quality) of the regular DEX210 to make the RTR

Its about £15-20 quids worth of bits to be able to convert the RTR to mid motor.

The gear diff is (possibly) an upgrade, depending on what you think of gear diffs, and AFAIK quite a few of the team drivers either have been or are currently running the RTR +8 chassis anyway. (or A.N.Other +8 Chassis). I'm pretty sure i'll be trying one, depending on how much it costs.
TBH if i'd needed electrics when i bought my 210, and the RTR had been available, the kit wouldn't have even got a look in.

it will handle down to a 9.5t so if you want anything quicker than this you'll end up upgrading

Default motor

lots of us use a 10.5t motor in 2wd and add timing and turbo, makes it very quick and easy to drive to,. smoother but fast as a 7.5t....

if the rtr speedo has timing/turbo on it then great, otherwise you might want to upgrade depending on your speed requirements of course.
RTR looks like a decent base thou.

Like mattR said, it sounds like more than it looks when you read it. It's indeed 15-20GBP worth of gearbox internals, it doesn't cost that much - plus, I've found my TRF201/3-gear mid motor 2WD to run just fine on both surfaces. A mid-motor might perform better or may get around easier, but it's not like you don't need to convert it right away. Also, you can already convert it to mid-motor afaik, it just won't be a 4-gear gearbox.

The gear diff is an upgrade on the non-RTR 210, but being an RTR I think they did a good thing including a gear diff (more easily adjustable and more foolproof). Some prefer a ball diff and they are good diffs, they just need a lot of attention preparing them (when built right I've found them pretty much free of maintainance).

As for the +8mm chassis... I heard Chris Doughty drove the RTR 210's chassis (using his own electronics) at the recent oOple Invernational... he came in third! It was on clay, so indeed a 3-gear rear motor was very suitable for the surface... but it goes to show the car is as fast as any DEX210!

I believe all the inserts for adjustment are included as well (it would be dumb not to, the inserts of a certain type are on the same tree), so I see no problems getting the RTR DEX210 to go as well as any other!

Get in touch with Rob at South West RC
http://www.southwestrc.co.uk/index.p...te=common/home
He will be track side at most WORM (Mendip) meetings.
There is also the Yatton club if you after some more practice once you have the car, they are racing this Friday and Rob runs the place so might be worth popping along to have a chat.
