Default Wire wing mounts on Optima Mids

OK sorry if this is a really dumb question but ...

I'm adding a third Mid to my list of builds which will be a SWB Mid and one mod I want to do to it is a wire wing mount. I had attempted this back when I had my SE over 20 years ago but with limited resources and knowledge I completely botched it.

I don't know much about wire wing mounts and my main questions are:
- does the wire just slide into the stays which means the stays have to be vertical or the wing can fall out
- are there wing stays that can tether the wire so the can be mounted horizontally such as to a shock tower
- I was planning on getting an Ultima wire wing mount and modding it for my intended application, but if anyone can suggest alternate wire wing mounts that can be tailored that would be handy

Again sorry if its a stupid question guys

Check out old yokomo buggies (dogfighter) series.

End of line rc may still stock wing wires that could be compatible.

Alsi have a look at the rc 10

The vertical wing mount tubes mounted on a flat plate used on the RC10, Ultima and Optima are designed so the wing can be removed to take the body off the car. The pictures above show how to mount it on a Mid shock mount. I think I've got some spare Parma wing mounts somewhere here.

To mount the wing you also need some steel wire and a pair of wing buttons, search ebay for wing button and you will find plenty of choice and cheaper than buying an original Ultima wing mount kit just for the wing buttons and to snip two pieces from the wing wire.

Thanks for the tips guys

Terry let me know if you have and/or are willing to sell the Parma wing mounts

If I run a wire wing can I just cut the brackets off the gearbox for the stock wing or are those screws still needed to hold the gearbox together?

I will try and find the wing mounts.

If you don't use the standard Mid wing mount you can cut the whole section off the back of the gearbox, it is held together by the other screws and will still be sealed.
