Default Wireless router advice

Ok so for the last 6 months i have been putting up with a virgin media super(shit)hub, its crap and doesnt work when using Wifi, no signal, kicks wireless devices off and reboots for fun.

A recent software upgrade means you can put it in modem mode and connect a seperate router

So could someone recomend a router or some advice on whats good and what i need.
