Hi all,
Can you calibrate lipo chargers such as the Etronix Powerpal and CS Electronic X1 and all the others that use the standard display? Charger is showing 8.4v, whilst several differnt multimeters are showing 8.35v..... any ideas?

What did we ever do before Youtube!?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hvR7dGAkEo "Start" + "Status (left)" and turn power on. Keep holding till calibration screen appears. Match voltage to multimeter voltage. Bingo!

Hey Will, glad you got the answer.
On chargers without that capability, you might still be able to calibrate by adjusting internals. OPen up the case and find the corresponding variable resistors going to your output and adjust accordingly. You can measure the adjustment using the multimeter. |

Something to be aware of is DMM accuracy typical plus or minus 1%, So 1% of 8.4V = 84mv (millivolts) or 0.084v
It appears that chargers err slightly on the lower side for cut off. Not sure how much difference it make to total charge if it cuts off at 50mv less than recommended max 8.4v for 2S Lipo for example but I suspect it won't be a great deal. ![]() |

I agree that there is probably not much to be gained by adjusting the charger ![]()

Don't fear.
![]() I havent fiddled with my charger. The variable resistor method is in another video by the same guy as you posted. He does it with one of his four button chargers. So you're safe as houses beside me anywhere. |

As i dont have either of the above chargers. I currently own a Imax B5 , a Imax B6 and a Prolux 2. They all have the same buttons and screen so i thought i`d try the method of checking with one of my 3 cell lipos.
Only the Imax B6 worked and it was spot on with the voltage. Already been set at +4. Prob from factory as its new when i bought it. So there you go guys another charger which will do that. The Imax B6 ![]() |
