The motor is on the wrong side??
Would suggest a standard car with a 3 gear box bolted on the other way around, unless they have come up with a genius solution to the lack of forward traction from this configuration this would be no better than the rear motor? |

What I don't understand is why there is a white Tamiya connector and a Nickel battery in plain sight on that mid-motor 201.
Anyway, I hope Tamiya is not showing them off in a gallery, but also putting thoughts into why some of these models were made... They could realize that many people even run mid-motor cars on clay. Perhaps they should be the first brand to offer a car/kit with a complete rear end swap between mid and rear motor converting, good weight distribution adjustability as standard and adjustable rigidity to make the car adjustable further? Also, a decent system to 'store' the 'excess' wiring on the car in mid motor (or to minimize the difference in length that's needed)? I mean, if you look at the fact that people still buy 2 DEX210s or 2 TLR 22s, then apparently using one car for 2 jobs doesn't work. So there is a chance for Tamiya to pick that up. Or they should follow the 'Schumacher' route: Two different purpose built machines for one type of surface each. |

There's a big clue in the show these photos were taken at, the Tamiya Modeler Gallery. They are all home built specials and nothing to do with Tamiya themselves. The display is of cars featured in RCWorld magazine, Fumiaki Kato who posted the photos works for the magazine.
So if you want any of the cars featured, then do what the owners did and just build them.

Looks like one of the many independent suspension conversion various Japanese drivers have built using touring car suspension parts. The most well known example is from Grahoo.
Then it could also be one of several 4wd conversions that have been done as well. Quote:
