Spektrum Tx batteries

Any existing spektrum users, or anyone in the know kindly advise on the below ??

Having recently purchased a Spektrum Tx it currently has the 4 AA batteries so 6v. Been eyeing up a LiFE Tx pack 6.6v 1000mah. Does anyone run these LiFE batteries in their spektrum gear?

Would a 1000mah LiFE be better than 4 x 2000mah AA batteries ??

Having run Lipos in my last Tx i was surprised at the cost of decent AA batteries
