Default Cells....the old saddle kind lol.

Guys

Im in the poop, i want set or two, of Nimh saddles for my YZ10, but im struggling.
Placed an order the other day with Modeltech, but to no avail, they mailed me back, no stock .
Any ideas lads? Not after matched, it wouldnt go a miss, but just good quality assembed saddles would do.
Anything up to or over 3000mah, kinda stuck as to where to go now, as everything is LIPO, and was trying to avoid them in this car.

On the flipside, IF i HAVE to use LIPO, any ideas who makes the saddles, with the sub C bumps on the bottom, so they will drop in my chassis slots?

bests.........lee

Plenty of hobby shops selling nimhs, just don't expect to find them in racer only car shops like Modeltech.
Easy option is to just pick up a stick pack and rebuild it into a saddle pack yourself, nimh stick packs are available to all decent hobby shops as there are still loads of them sold.

If you need the saddle ready built, them contact Vapextech or Component Shop to see if they will build one for you, you can pick up a 5000mah pack from either of them for around £25-30.
As for quality of cells, we have used the Vapextech cells continuously in demonstrator cars, they are run till they go flat, allowed to cool, then put straight on charge ready to use again. Each pack can end up being charged 3-4 times a day. Never had a failure yet, which is more than could be said for the 'big name' racing packs.

If you are still stuck, then there are plenty of people who can put together a pack for you, any serious racer would buy loose cells and assemble the pack themselves.

I'd be happy to get a stick pack from Vapextech and rebuild it into a saddle set for you, as Terry suggests. I've got all the bits needed. PM me if that helps.

I've been looking fondly at my old HPI Sprint 1 and thinking I'd love to have a go with it again somewhere, but it needs saddle packs, and I am not sure LiPo would fit. The Vapertech cells would be a good bet, and I still have the 17T motor we used to use. Maybe, just maybe my soldering iron, jig and old bars (not gold, just old!) will yet be pressed into service!! I'll wish us both luck with remembering how we did it, eh?

I remember DMS posting a while ago that they had loads of decent quality loose/matched nimh cells left. Might be worth giving them a try

I'll take 10%, thanks Daz!

Shouldn't be hard to remember, we had plenty of practice.

We had a couple of drivers turn up with 1/12ths, so dug out my old CRC Sixpack, rebuilt a 27T stock motor and running world spec cells bought for less than half price from DMS. Great fun for a total cost of £30!

Ralphee, I would suggest you look at the smaller capacity cells, 3300 or below should be fine. As the capacity increased so did the can size and modern large capacity cells don't fit in the older cars.
