Default Wow, it's seriously quick...

I've just got a new to me B4 and taken it for a quick run in the garden and it's so much quicker and intuitive to drive than I'd thought it would be.

It's running lipo and a 6.5t Novak pro power system so I expected a good lump of power but that was incredible.

Power sliding around the lawn is great fun and it's so controllable. I guess 5 years on rc Helis has helped the transmitter technique a wee bit so I can't wait to try it on a track now...

A 6.5 in 2wd will be very quick!!!

You might find you need to back off the end point, and turn the esc down on track with that to keep it consistently controllable once your in the confines of the track markings...especially if your a little new to it!

I run an 8.5t novak motor in mine at nationals, and that is not slow by any standards!

Thanks Andy, I have to admit I was thinking of knocking it down to about 80% for the sake of the transmission, I was just astonished though at how brutal it was. I've played at racing 1/8th and 1/5th off road many moons ago and this thing is noticeably easier and quicker.

I think I'll sit down and do some research now. I can set up an rc Plane or Heli with no worries but I now need to understand a whole new set-up regime. More or less camber/toe in or out etc etc.

I guess I've a lot to learn...

Hehe...no worries dude.

That motor will feel brutal to be honest, but the transmission will be fine to be fair, the B4 transmission is pretty bullet proof. You'll be wanting to turn it down just to control it!

As for setups...well toe and camber is only the beginning...tyres are critical, and suspension setup is a massive part of offroad...so damping (oils and pistons) and spring rates...and then there is all the other geometry that also effects it...camber links, shock mounting positions, roll centre adjustment, anti squat, etc, etc....oh and then there is weight balance too...

It's all part of the fun though!

And poke around this site for team setups...they are probably not totally suited to your driving style at this point, unless you have the thumbs and reactions of Lee Martin or Neil Cragg, but should give you a good starting point!
