Default stripped diff gear...why?

I'm running a Core with 9T ezrun on 2s lipo and while just bashing it lost drive, after opening up the gears discovered this (see pic).....I'm not used to ball diffs

is this due to slipper or diff incorrectly set?

Cheers in advance guys, I'm not a racer but this site has always full of expert advice.

Slipper too tight probably, had grip but the motor said 'turn' this was the first thing to go.

Do you have upgraded idler in there ?? If you want one i have a Kevlar diff gear and upgraded idler if needs be.

the problem is usually caused by heat, the gear gets hot & the teeth strip as the plastic has softened. So make sure when you build the diff it is just tight enough by putting a bar in each outdrive & seeing if the centre diff gear can rotate, if it can it needs to be tighter, & i find needs to be really just tight enough so not to slip. Chances are the idler will strip 1st as the metal layshaft holds the heat if it is heat causing the problem though.

Also, i know some people have said they are stripping Ansmann gears (especially idlers) by landing on the power, so always throttle off until your car hits the down ramp or has landed completely when going over jumps with the driving wheels touched down before hitting the throttle. I know it may be tricky as you may need to use the power to correct the car in high jumps, but try to keep throttle use to a minimum when the car is in the air & let the car arch naturally over the jumps & to be extra sure make sure the bearings are nice & free running on the idlers & outdrives.. if you are still using the brass bushings for any reason, that won't help as they will be choking the power & effectively like running with a brake dragging.
