Default Gearing Again

I've just put an LRP Sphere TC Speedo and LRP X11 5.5 in my BJ4WE.
What pinion should i be using with:

a) 78 tooth spur

and

b) 81 tooth spur

Also, which if any of the above, would be the prefered option?

Cheers

Ryan

just asked Richard Lowe a few days back and he reckons,

Quote:
18/81

19/81 is faster but can get hot
so,

18/81 11.25
19/81 10.66

17/78 11.47
18/78 10.83
19/78 10.26

Those suggestions are for sintered rotors, for a 5.5 bonded I used to run either 15t or 16t with the 81t spur - so you want to be around the 13:1 range overall

Cheers Chaps

Am i correct in thinking the LRP X11 5.5 motor has a bonded rotor?

In which case a 15t pinion on a 78t spur, giving a FDR of 13 should be spot on?

Cheers

Ryan
