Default Polished wood track

what do you guys race on polished wood?

what do you think is the best car and setup ?

i have found that with a near standard Tamiya TA-05 with a tamiya sport tuned 'black can' and schumacher yellow minipin tyres goes well, with the suspension screwed right up (so it is basically sitting on the floor)

415 ??

i would have thought that it would have been too light on polished wood ... slide :P

but if you are only running a 27T fair do's.

i had a 19x1 in my '05, changed it to a 27t and it was much better

I used to love running on the polished floor at Swindon, with Tamiya Silver Can motors and yellow minipins, the racing was close!

No, not too light. The guys mainly run XRay T007/08 but there are 3 x 415 MRE`s, a 416, several Serpent S400`s and an old HPI that are all on a similar pace making up the top 12 with drivers all of a similar ability. There are some quick guys at our club so the competition is always fierce

My old mi2 was brilliant on slippery floor. My RCLab was good too.
I miss not running on on the slippy stuff now we have lots of carpet

i have been missing carpet, until last night when i got the car set up nicely, now i like the wood

it just shows, even if you dont like something at first, it's worth sticking at and it will get better.

Depends on what motor you use. I ran around 7.8 with my Monster stock

You do realise that a silver can will actually be faster on our track? you wont be able to use quarter throttle, you'd be better reducing the end point on the throttle to 25%.

but as for gear ratio i dont know, around 14.1 rings a bell for a smallish track like the warehouse (compared to big outdoor circuits) but no idea for Billingham.

i know, my black can is faster than my 19T. i bought it with the intention of reducing the end point

i found the BEST set-up for polished wood so far (in the way of tyres)

on the front;
used minipins with white inserts

on the rear;
BRAND NEW mini pins with white inserts

the grip goes after about 5-7 mins of driving, but for the heat, or even better the final it is great

it gets a bit / a lot of understeer, but the back end is like it is on rails (i couldnt slide the back end with a WOT and 19T motor, but i could after the 5-7 mins)
