Default HELP!! I Need a larger shell

Hi all,

Im running saddle packs in my 22, yet the zippys are rather tall, and as a result, they make contact with the sides of the standard shell. I need some suggestions based upon peoples experiences with shells. Most important is the height of the sides, but some gain above the mid motor mount might also be nice?

I like the bluegroove, but not sure if it is tall enough at the sides. A friend has suggested the vane or bulldog shell.

Anyone able to offer some help??

Its designed to be run with side by side lipo's and is much taller than the stock body on the sides. It just doesn't look it. There's also more room around the motor brace if your running your speedo in the recommended place.

I actually had a 22 with them tall blue zippy lipos (want to buy them?) and the phat shell got enough material to allow you to mount it a tad high.

This is my 22 with Phat Bodies 'Rocco' in action:

Wouldn't bother mounting speedo on front of motor plate, there will be bags of room to mount it in front of lipos with saddles turned 90 degrees... keeps some weight towards front and lower C of G compared to sticking it up that high, plus allows more air flow over motor area

How tall are your zippy lipos? I have a pair of zippys and if they are the same then they are nearly double the size of normal ones

hi chimp, which lipos are they and how tall are they/. as ideally id like to run them side by side like yours, but i dont think even the rocco shell is big enough to house my 2 zippy saddles side by side, theyre that big !!

on a side note, how did the brass plate change the handling? as ive got one to fit today

ta muchly

They are LRP saddles, according to SMD website they are 25.1 mm high, not sure if that includes the cell shaped mouldings... which is why i run them upside down to lower C of G

I have always run under lipo weight with 22, they just feel far more settled and planted with the weight for me and obviously helps rear traction, feels easier to control over big jumps too.

Have tried other 22's without weight and they seem to bounce and skip around on bumps too much for me,even with tapered pistons

As soon as it's damp to wet the TLR 50G rear weight goes on too, if its still a bit loose then the 6g extra weights get bolted to it.

If your lipos are the main issue then get rid and get some that fit, if they wont fit in this formation then they certainly won't fit in others... the LRP ones can be tight in some cars.

i have used velcro on the side so you can mount the stock body a bit higher
