hi. my TLR 22 roling chasis has arrived this morning, and I guess its just straightoutta the box setup (via ebay). Im wanting to run saddle packs to give me some more room to run mid motor, but theres a housing bar to fit a standard size lipo one end, and the other end (where the motor would go if mid mounted) its not tall enough to get the saddle pack underneath.
could someone help a noob please? Ive posted a pic of the issue !! lol ta muchly |

my questions is, how do I setup this up (or what parts do I need I guess) to run saddle packs with mid motor.
Mid motor parts are on the way, but as the saddle packs are taller, they wont fit under the fitment near the rear shock tower? |

The front battery bar, turn it round 180•
Then the saddles will fit side by side

I think this is the most commonly asked question on 22's. This car is a nightmare to get electrics in to - I bit the bullet and bought short lipo's like the car was intended to run.
Not sure on the Zippy lipo's, but I had Orca saddles and they were way to big, sold them and bought Losi saddles but realsied to run them properly I would have to cut the side pods to fit - good luck mate ![]() |

Looks like these might be too big, so I guess ill just have to cut the side pods

Check the shell fits properly though first, if the saddles are too high and you have the standard 22 shell it wont fit....

I'm assuming your lipos are too tall to fit under rear bulkhead/shock tower in rear motor config?
If so, take the rear apart and shave down the underside of shock tower bulkhead area where lipos sit under by a few mm using a dremel or flat file, you should be able to fit any lipos then... i use LRP saddles and they have very chunky cases... fit in both my mid and rear motored 22's easily. You only need a new body with higher sides in mid config if you decide to turn saddles 90 degrees side by side in front of motor, then you will have to trim side pods and use a clever mod i use to use velcro straps or you'll have to fit a lipo brace... standard mid motor you have to use either saddles or stubby lipo and with saddles its best to remove battery front brace to fit electrics in comfortably... (i run speedo up front behind servo.... Savox low profile servo too) its very straightforward, can't understand what all he fuss was about when the first came out, bit of common sense with install and anything will fit. ![]() |

He wants to run the car Mid Motor, so rotate the front battery brace 180, then the height of the saddle shouldn't be an issue !!!

I'm thinking the batterys running side by side is going to be best. It won't fit under the rear bulkhead area even with trimming it, they are just too tall - and anyway, the motor will be sitting there in a few days. ill prob wait until all the parts are here and see if I have any issues - and if so il post my issues here

I'm confused here chap !
You say you want to run the car in Mid Motor layout, but keep saying the lipo's won't fit under the Rear Motor Battery Bulkhead !! What are you in fact doing or planning on doing ?

Sorry if im confusing people, but I did pre-warn I was a noob
![]() OK, so I want to run it mid motor, but my lipos wont fit under the little housing that sits infront of the rear tower (which has just dorned on me won't prob be there when its converted to mid motor?) Im prob going to chop the side bars around so I can run the batteries side by side. Is that any clearer? |

No need to appolgies for being a noob !
We've all been there, 30+ years ago for me though, lol OK, done a little digging on the Show us your 22 thread and found this ! I beleive this is what you want to do ? Apart from the great carbon battery strap, all you need to do is dremmel the two side pods to allow the lipo's to fit that way, the rear bulkhead you mention is not needed if you run Mid Motor Layout !

Thats the layout i run for mid motor car,
I got a 74G Rudebits brass under lipo weight, positioned it as if running saddles in kit config, slid it back so that it sits under front half of motor, took thickness of brass off motor/gearbox brace mount and drilled 2 holes in brass so screws go through chassis into motor/gearbox brace and hold it all together firmly.... then just slotted the brass so kit velcro straps hold lipos in. brass plate also allows saddles to sit flat, without it they sit at angles with a gap underneath the middle. velcro is lighter than carbon fibre or the lipo holding and i always run under lipo weight anyways to keep car settled over bumps. The mod works a treat, gives loads of rear end grip, even in damp coming out of corners on throttle. You will need a different bodyshell for this mod, i run a Phat bodies Rocco or a G-Speed cab forward Vega shell... FTW Vane shells fit ok too but are pig ugly IMO For a Newbie you may be better off just sticking with kit set up until you get used to car and racing a 2WD, a lot of people i know have done this mod and then not liked it and gone back to kit set up, i prefer it but it depends on driving style... same as adding weight too. |

I was thinking about a new shell anyhow. Which one gives the most gained room ?

with the above pictured modification the electrics alleasily fit in the front so no need for room for anything else? They all go over lipos with their higher sides so depends onwhat style you are after... FTW Vane is a cab forward shell and Phat bodies Rocco is more like the kit type but with sculpted sides. Atomic Carbon also do a Tardis shell that will fit |
