The 3 gear is easier to drive, but has less forward traction and ... IMO less brutal accelerations in between... Everybody can drive the 3gear, but real men drive 4 gear
Only when the grip is very high(EOS carpet for instance) I see benefits in the 3gear. For outdoors astro --> 4gear
