I wouldn't bother with the rtr car personally.

I'd go for the supastox gt. Equip it with turnigy electrics from hobbyking. And the core rc servo. That way for the same money you'll have a car that is competitive. You can then look at going for the expensive kit if you feel the need (my car doesn't struggle for speed compared to others at my club with kit 3x the price)
