Hi Ian,
I'll run it with saddle packs, as i dont have shortys yet.
The mounts to run a.shorty length wise, is an option part #U4779.
Edit: i've got that info from mr. Chris Ashton, over in rctech:
Shorty in line – maximum agility, less stability, good for technical tracks.
Shorty transverse rear – maximum rear grip and stability
Shorty transverse front – maximum steering, good stability
Saddle – safe handling, more weight.
