I think the question is what motor to get to learn how to drive again......
TBH, I'd be looking at something in the 8.5-10.5 range. Start off with all the toys turned off.
Keep adding boost and turbo until motor temps are silly, then upgrade to a "proper" motor, lower turn than 8.5. And start the process again.
You'll need an ir temp probe, and a selection of pinions.
Second hand motors, or hobby king will see you right to start with.
Might also be worth downloading a couple of setup sheets from petitrc and setting the car up sensibly for the track you are using. It's quite possible that the seller has either been driving high traction or carpet, or has just thrown the car together to sell (shocks and diffs not set up properly). Having a good motor won't help if the car won't go in a straight line.
