Yes it is great when your kids take to a hobby that develops all sorts of skills, social, technical and mechanical apart from the competitive spirit and hopefully fair play that a restricted racing class engenders.
You say silver solder, are you sure about that one?
Silver solder is a very high temperature solder and should not be needed for this particular hobby, a good soldering iron and some practice is all that is needed for sound joints without overheating everything!
