You really shouldn't need to change layouts for different conditions. A bit of weight and correct setup changes will be fine.

I started with saddles then tried shorty. Never going back. Car is much better with shorty.

None of the Xray team change between the two layouts and neither do the Yokomo guys. You shouldn't have to do much more than change the Pistons, oil and link lengths - which if have to do anyway in changing layouts
