That's a really neat install Dan - good work buddy!

Stu... the Core RC... you're on your own there as far as I am concerned!

I see the lowered pivot mod for the GT is very popular!

Weight in front of the servo - not a good plan especially with the GT12 suspension designs. It makes the car lazy in direction change and tend towards understeer. Wherever possible put the weight behind the servo and in the middle of the car, except where you are using it to balance the pod or the chassis. Keep that to a minimum.

Note on Mark's cars he has spaced the motor a lot to the left of the car and so can avoid some weight on the other side of the pod. Not sure why he uses the same motor spacer and yet has 10g on one car and 30g on the other - wasn't it Mark saying the pod was best balanced? Why did you do that Mark?

As a rule of thumb, weight on the outside of the car also tends to make it less able to turn quickly. Dan's install has everything as central as he can get it, so the trade-off for having the servo too far forward is that the weight is more central in the rest of the car.

My install has the speedo to the left of the chassis like Mark's, so I keep the ballast in the middle. It's all a compromise!

None of these layouts is definitive. Although each is different, one will suit one driver's style and not another's. Keep in mind what things do to the handling of the car, but never be afraid to try something different as you may find the clock is telling you one is faster for your driving style. HTH
