Note also from Mark's cars that the one with the IS front end has virtually no lead on it and the beam one has enough lead to keep a bag of kittens at the bottom of the canal. Take the IS front end off if you still have it!
That is weight in completely the wrong place. Any weight forward of the servo will just make the car understeer - forward of the front axle line is like trying to turn a hammer quickly by holding it at the end of the shaft! I know, exaggeration on both counts, but you get the picture...
The reality is that if you get the car around 970g/980g you won't be any worse off than trying to get right down to the limit - that's 3% overweight, not a big deal. As you said yourself, the driving needs some work! Being 20g/30g overweight will make no difference if you have enough daylight between you and the apex to get another car through!
I'd be interested what Schumacher have to say, but I think we have sorted your problem now. HTH

Beale, the ifs one is my normal car but testing the set up at the moment, open verdict.
PDW your loosing it!!
the weights are to replace what's lost on the top car from fitting the zen wheels and axle, you will notice only 10g on the pod to balance it and not 30g, the ifs in that format is near enough the same as the kit front end.
20g in front of speedo surplus from rear pod
20g on servo for wheels/axle
both cars with lw ascari body and cell are 955g ish
