I myself have been looking into buying a 1/8th scale nitro car. And from what i have seen the HoBao Hyper 8 RTR BRCA edition seems to be the best one to get, as even though you are not planning on going to any nationals or stuff like that, you would still be able to race without having to changew anything. Which for a beginner like me would be exellent.
