Don't rule out the 502X. Its a very good car and low maintenance as the diffs are fully sealed. If you are running mod the best up grade is TSR Ceramic diffs. The standard diffs last a long time in stock, but mod kills them.

You can still get the chassis up grade kit for it which is a good purchase as it comes with plenty of light weight parts and tuning options.

With any of the Tamiya 4wds the optional 501 arms which are universal to all cars will make it very durable. The beauty of the shaft drive 502 is no belts to loosen and replace. I also believe SRP will be releasing a shorty pack conversion for the 502 very soon.
