This is where the case for hard cases gets silly. Is hard case defined as normal plastic that in a large impact will crack/fracture/splinter? possibly puncturing cells? or hard thick lexan (which is used in bullet proof vests) As it is i have bought these to use at club level only. As i said in an earlier comment, a touring car using these hard cases is far more likely to have a set of lipos coming out of the car, or to be struck by another car, whereas in a buggy which has a tray or tub chassis and shell that completly surrounds it. Again just my opinion, i do agree with rob's view that with a hard case it is impossible to see potential swelling/defects with the battery's - an opinion echoed by long time manufacturer of lipo's maxamps - i spoke to them for some time about this over xmas before deciding to buy some. They have even gone so far as to make a dvd on the safe use of lipo's, these are the kinds of people the brca should be talking to and collecting useful/relavent info on lipo's.
