You can use 2 yellow pads without any issues, check that the spacer that sits in front of the bearing isn't crushed as it's only plastic (i used to use alloy washers to replace this part) as that will stop you getting enough compression on the slipper.
The adjustment is a little hit and miss, as it could be set tight but then will be slipping quite badly after being backed of less than 1/8th of a turn.
