We'll 2wd will be cheaper to get started, and you won't require as high end kit to compete.

You can probably pick up a centro c4.1/2 kit for not much, although a cougar sc2, Durango dex210, kyosho rb5 or something else 2nd hand will be fine.

Stick with a competition kit, much more robust, and better spares backup too.

7.5 motor will be plenty.
