As said above, delrin is more commonly known, it's a trade name for a version of acetal in the same way polycarbonate is known by the name lexan.
It is more than strong enough, any plastic part you find that has been machined is made of delrin, wishbones, gears, even the Centro 4.1 gearbox was machined from delrin.
Easy to find online in small quantities, and cheap offcuts are usually sold on ebay.
