I mirror what ash says, for me the FTX are more for car park fun than competitive racing, I would look for a second hand schumacher or such as like he said help and spares trackside will be much easier, also something to consider is maybe look for a 2wd car, for someone looking to improve their driving 2wd improves driving skill and how to control the car, once you have that mastered move to 4wd and it will seem easy, 2wd takes car control to get around the track 4wd just requires power power and more power, plus in my experience 2wd is far more popular now at club nights.

You should be able to pick a nice SV2 up with a few upgraded parts for £100 ish on here or eBay
