The - used in the manual is used to separate the numbers it is not a minus sign.

What you're pointing to is a "0", not a 1. And yes, it goes on the front.
If you look closely, you'll see the rear is stamped with a "-2".
Adam has stated the opposite of the v2 manual (page 66), so the manual could possibly be wrong.
The manual shows part# 330600-1 is for the front shock, and that particular part is stamped with a "0".
Part# 330600-2, for the rear, has a "-2" stamped on it.

So, according to the manual:
"0", front.
"-2", rear.
