All very interesting , no idea on calibrating or if this is needed , but as per Mark servo works and is happy .

without the card or any other paraphernalia , purely the button on the ESC?

I'm not sure I'm setting
to the radio , I'm just wanting to have the motor turn for the first time ideally , not interested in fancy settings, just want the car to move under it's own power...
So from what I'm told , it's not possible without either the top or the basic set up card...
