It seems for most cars if a shorty is used, drivers have to watch the weight (and often add it elsewhere) to make it run as they desire. It offers a nice adjustment feature for weight balance, but the overall weight it still needed.
Unlike most cars, the DEX210 seems to have that weight already. My 210 (in SWB) was a good 100g over the minimum weight with a short pack and bulky ESC (
This layout weighs 1599g). I placed everything but the Rx and PT in-line with the chassis - The main reason is because my ESC is actually too big to fit in the sidepod or on top of the battery, but the nice side-effect is that as standard the weight is nicely along the centerline of the car, besides leaving space to put weights in the sidepods to change roll characteristics of the car if needed. If your ESC fits within the sidepods you can place it there and play with the front to rear weight balance instead.
And with the 210's weight your concern with a shorty is not to get to the appropriate weight and adjust the balance - it's just to adjust the balance (with position of the shorty) - So in my view, Shorty it is!
