Depending on the connector you use, there are ways to stop them coming apart.

If you use single 'bullet' style connectors (Corally 4mm or 3.5mm) then put some fuel tubing over the joint - that will hold it all together almost whatever the punishment you mete out to them.

If you use plugs, then a small tie wrap across the plug will do the same job, or even tying them together with strong thread or fishing line!

The plugs can be made reliable with a bit of ingenuity whilst retaining their convenience while you sort out a motor that suits you. HTH
