I had a Futaba 3GR Fasst set of sticks that I bought off one of the guys at my old club. Sold (stupidly) all my rc gear a couple of years ago and now I am getting back into racing, I could't resist getting a new set of the 3GR sticks and the R603f receiver... they work perfectly and never let me down.... It's personal choice, when it comes down to spending your own money. You've got to be happy with what ever transmitter/receiver you choose to use.
I've never got on with the whole 'wheel' thing...but, many people do and to great effect.
The only thing I would say is a must, is the 2.4ghz signal. The rest is up to you and your wallet
