Go for a Yokomo BMAX2MR - http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php...ls/yokomo.html

Perfect for all our local tracks, both indoors and outdoors. Work on both high and low tractions tracks. They are very solidly build and lots of your local racers run them, so you'll never be stuck for setup help or a part at a meeting (unlike other less used brands).
New from MB models, or there are second hand ones about/on here.

Durango 210 are also widely used locally to be fair, and they are very competitive. You'll likely spend more in the long run on parts/hopups with them however (over the yok).

The new B5/B5M is a good car, plus plenty of B4's or centro's (c4.1 or c4.2) about cheap enough now the B5 is out. Mid motor is most competitive at our local tracks, but to be fair a B4 works great indoors, and outside to a point.

Cheap to buy (new) kits normally cost considerably more in the long run over a season in replacement parts, not as durable, upgrades to make them competitive, and trying to make them work. Cheap (kit price) isn't the best option for value.
